About Us

Burleigh Heads Rugby League Football Club was originally founded in 1934 by Mr Bob Singh, a prominent member of the Burleigh community. Bob Singh has since passed away, but his legacy still remains. The Club was based at Rudd Park at Burleigh Heads not far from the old cinema and on the site of the current caravan park.

In 1971 the Club relocated to Pizzey Park in Pacific Ave at Miami and shared the facility of the athletics track at Bob Singh Oval. As Pizzey Park developed and different sporting groups found their own fields Burleigh Bears used Bob Singh Oval as their home ground.

Originally Burleigh Bears was formed to field teams in the Gold Coast Group 18 competition. At present the Club has sides in the Gold Coast competition as well as two sides in the Brisbane Fogs Cup and one side in the QRL State League Competition. The Club was successful in 1999 as well as 2004 in winning the Qld Cup, both times under coach Rick Stone. There have been successful seasons prior to this in the Gold Coast Group 18 Competition as well as successes in the Local Gold Coast Competition with three grades winning in 2006.

Burleigh Bears Leagues Club is a modern Club with all the features of a licensed venue. Currently the Licensed Club has 160 gaming machines and this will soon increase to 220. The Club has over 17,000 members and is helping to ensure rugby league maintains a force on the Gold Coast
